Introducing SilQ UK

SilQ Logo clearIt turns out my travels over the last few years have not been in vain. Not only have I experienced some cool places I have also met some truly creative people.

I am really proud to be launching a new fashion line to the UK from Bulgaria called SilQ.

Our latest Spring/Summer collection is now available via our Etsy store. The Spring/Summer collection comprises of beautifully cut jersey dresses, billowy cotton blouses and perfectly tailored trousers. Mix and match and have fun with a truly dynamic wardrobe.

SILQ is the birthplace of beautiful clothes. We scout markets in Marrakech and vintage shops in New York to find everyone’s favorites. Clothes that have stood the test of time. Clothes that look right today but will look just as right next year; or the years to come.

another wedding post

We have just returned from a wonderful trip to Granada to view our wedding venue. For me, it reignited my excitement for our impending nuptials. It was Dan’s first time seeing the venue and I was holding my breath in anticipation and hope that he would like what I had chosen for us to celebrate our wonderful day.

Arriving late Friday night we picked up our hire car and pootled along to a town just 30 minutes from the venue. We stayed at Hotel Casablanca where we were treated to a beautiful sea facing room decorated ornately with a Moorish inspired design. We really needed this trip to take stock and take a break from the hectic lives we have been leading since leaving Brussels. We both adore Spain and always feel at peace whenever we travel there.

In the morning we took the mountainous and at points very hairy drive to our beautiful hill top venue. All I can say is Dan loved it. From the moment we walked through the gates the look on his face gave me butterflies instantly. As we wound our way round the beautiful, traditional Moorish gardens, the stunning miradors and the sumptuous rooms of the mini-palace…he grew more and more excited and began to envision our day the way I had done.

The nicest thing about getting Dan’s seal of approval of our wedding venue shows how alike we are in our tastes and traditions. For me it was a fantastic trip to reconnect and remember all the wonderful things about planning our wedding…not just the saving for it bit.

I will of course share all my photographs of the venue after the wedding but for now I want to keep this little gem a surprise for you all…I hope you will think it is worth the wait.

Instead here is a little peek at our beautiful invitations inspired by the glorious region of Andalucia and the abundance of lemon trees, sunshine and lush tropical gardens.

An amazing, talented and dear friend designed these stunning invitations and our monogram. I added the paper doily and yellow ribbon and sent them in brown paper envelopes written with squiggly hand to create that modern vintage feel with a touch of the old world. One friend mentioned it was like opening a letter full of sunshine!

Thanks so much to Ashleigh my friend and are a legend!

Save The Date SD-CD-1 spain_vintage_stamp vintage-spanish-stamps--1977-dfa48

While I do not want to write a blog cataloguing every aspect of my upcoming wedding…I don’t want to bore you!

I do like to share artistic and inspirational artwork. Above is the digital version of my Save The Dates I commissioned from my incredibly creative and talented friend Ashleigh Hall. Ash came up with this laid back botanical print and incorporated a very vintage style into it.

I have a lot of family who live abroad and rather than posting them the hard copy I slightly adapted Ashleigh’s artwork so it could be sent as an emailer. I sourced these super stunning stamp graphics from Google and attached them to the original artwork in Photoshop. Bada bing, bada boom! A digi Save The Date with a vintage feel.

Another note to say is that without the inspiration, creative people in my life…I have no idea how I would have been able to get such a personal touch to my wedding details.

Thanks Ash. Big Love!

perdee inna?

Once again I have been slightly displaced and have not been in the frame of mind to keep up my beloved blogging. As summer draws to a close and we all get our minds and bodies prepared for the winter winds, I thought I would share some pictures from mine and Dan’s summer this year. Due to the wedding we had to venture closer to home for our holiday but we certainly did not feel hard done by.

The title of this post related to the pictures; ‘perdee inna?’ is Cornish for ‘pretty isn’t it?’

Devon and Cornwall are absolutely beautiful places to vacay to! Dan and I loved every minute and also had the opportunity to see some dear friends in the process. Since I have know Dan, I have been told of his childhood spent in the tiny fishing village of Mevagissey on the Cornish coast. He decided we would stay a couple of nights in this charming little village and chose a stunning hotel on Polkirt Hill overlooking the sea called the Mevagissey Bay Hotel.

On our first night in Mevagissey we ate at a charming little restaurant called Roovrays which specialised in Seafood and boy did they live up to their reputation. Dan and I both had a type of stew which contained a trip of local Cornish fish with mushrooms, prawns, white wine, cream and shellfish.

We ate, we drank and we were very merry! Pictures are from Mevagissey, Gorran Haven.

back in blighty!

Blog May 2013

What a year it has been for Dan and I. I am now back in the UK, back to the “love shack” (for those of you who don’t know what the “love shack” is – I will write a post dedicated to it) and back to reality with a bang.

This blog has to carry on – I love writing down my observations, thoughts and fashion spots! So I am going to carry on regardless, with lots of new material to keep you all happy at your desks or wherever you may be.

Barcelona brought me to this blog and I absolutely have loved the year I have had – missing the experiences but so pleased to be back with my family and friends in England. Those who are close to me have heard this rant – but there really is no place like home. It drives you to distraction when you are here but the nicest feeling in the world is being able to be understood! Moving away, living in BCN and Brussels has given me empathy towards people who live in a different country, who cannot speak the language – how brave they all are for trying to get by everyday not being understood.

On that note, I am glad to be back (I already said that) and ready to document the very interesting (not) twists and turns in my life! There will be wedding inspired stuff, fashion, restaurants and general amazing things I want to share with you lovely lot.

Speak soon!
