glam factor!

Just finished this little creation and just in time. It started snowing again today and once again I have been holed up in my apartment, finding every excuse under the sun to not venture out into the blistering cold. I came up with the idea for this little beauty after being bored of my usual winter coats. I love the idea of being able to layer clothing and this faux fur shawl is a great extra addition to the usual winter garb and will totally help add a bit of glamour to your life!

A dash of red lipstick never goes a miss with a bit of (faux) fur either! I am going to have to get Dan to take me out now after this meticulous planning of my outfit today.

If you like the shawl I have it for sale on my Etsy shop. Check it out here!

I have been in total hibernation since we came back from the UK for Christmas. Although my heart has been soaring (Christmas proposal from my beau) the weather has kept the two of us firmly in the warmth of our apartment, bored and cold with no intention of venturing outside. This in turn causes incredible cabin fever and I have been trying to make the effort to brave the frosty afternoons to get some much needed fresh air!

It’s been a while since I posted and this is because I have been trying to gather some material for the blog. Now that we are nearing the end of January, I am looking forward to a break in this chilly weather and for Spring to come into play so I can get outside and really get back into my photography and exploring.

The good thing about being indoors is that I have been working hard on a Spring Summer collection for my Etsy store – inspired by my year in Barcelona ***sigh*** I am hoping to put together some lovely pieces to get us all in the mood for lazy Summer days.

Loads to do in my chicken coup.

Dr Zhivago

As the colder weather draws in, I have been gathering inspiration for my projects from the silver screen. One of my most favourite stories and movies is Dr Zhivago and my latest creation “The Fur Cape” really was born from my love of Julie Christie’s wardrobe from the movie.

Of course I have made some adaptations by using Faux Fur which I highly advocate as the use of real fur these days truly is an unnecessary practice, when man made fibers are just as warm, beautiful and cruelty free.

I have included my inspiration and a sneak peek at the cape being featured on my Etsy shop this week. Take a look!

Very Berry Winter

ImageImageImageI will probably regret saying this in a few months but I am really enjoying the Autumn/Winter weather here in Brussels. I have always enjoyed winter because it gives you a chance to wear lots of different layers and experiment more with the items in your wardrobe. Although I adore the summer heat, I always feel stumped for what to wear, as my main priority is to not sweat in public, an issue that incurred in Barcelona almost everyday of the Summer just past.

I have been working like a crazy lady trying to set up my Etsy store and I have finally finished one of the many projects for my store. Introducing the Very Berry Wrap Coat – simple in design but extremely flattering on the figure. The wrap coat is fastened by a simple faux leather belt and the gorgeous purple wool is cosy and soft to the touch.

I teamed it with a wine corduroy skirt, striped top, purple tartan scarf and wine crochet hat and camel boots to walk the dog this morning. Yes I know, a bit much for a dog walk! Until I meet some friends in this city I will continue making the most of my winter wardrobe. Come hell or high water!

On that note…I have signed up to an event on Thursday night to meet some new people, so I don’t have to be a loner anymore. I will let you know how I get on…

Love,

Lottie

Bonjour Brussels!

ImageJust an update as I left you all hanging before I left Barca….

After 13 hours in the car from Barcelona to Brussels with an overnight stay in Avignon France, we finally arrived in our new home, tired but extremely excited about the next chapter in our future.

As Dan went to work on Monday morning I spent my my new found freedom settling us into our new pad and exploring this little city. So far I can honestly say that Brussels is fab! We live in a lovely part of town, full of Vintage boutiques and cosy bistro’s! The people are friendly and it is very easy to get by in English although it would be nice to come away with at least an understanding of French or Flemish.

There is so much for me to start posting about and I am excited to start sharing it with you. Also there will be lots of updates on all the new items I am adding to my Etsy store in the coming week. I hope you will continue reading my blog as I continue on my adventures.

it’s been emotional

ImageImageI leave Barcelona in 4 days time and will be continuing my posts from my new home in Brussels. That’s right, the girl with the red satchel is packing her bags and moving to a new city.

A lot has changed since I last posted! For starters I quit my job which really wasn’t my cup of tea and have decided to explore my true love of Fashion Design. I have just completed a couple of winter capes that will be previewed on this blog before I launch them on my Etsy shop next week. Stay tuned!

I have taken a lot from my amazing 10 months in Barcelona, I have met some amazing people, found out what I don’t like doing and have found the confidence to sew and design again. As amazing as this place is, working in a job you don’t like to stay in a gorgeous city really isn’t worth the hassle.

I am looking forward to all the new things awaiting me in Brussels and I will be sure to keep you all updated with my antics in my new home.

Watch this space for an update on what I will be doing with my time in Brussels.

Adios Barcelona…it’s been emotional!
